re: who should own culture then?... there are lots of ways for LTs to approach ownership if the current way isn't working....the CEO can own it, HR can own it, a Chief Culture Officer can own it, Chief Transformation Officer, Chief Learning Officer, I’ve seen CMOs own it, some companies assign the Chief Customer Officer & Chief Culture Officer to own it TOGETHER (reporting into the CHRO or reporting direct to CEO)….lots of ways to partner with the CEO on any priority. I don't think we all have to own it, but we do all have to have the clarity and alignment around where we are currently and where we're going (FROM>TO). If we don't have that we're f$%*d. We do have to be aligned and clear about how it contributes to the whole enterprise winning and the LT would benefit from having some threshold of understanding about how culture actually works vs the culture related insanity they have been supported with to date. The threshold would depend on how that team sees culture contribute value..and that depends on how good/strong the owner of it is. Somebody in that organization needs to be masterful about how culture operationalizes both the human and technical dimensions of strategy (integrating cultural intelligence+L&D+leadership+innovation, etc). Put me in coach.
